“Click on the Yin Yang symbol for the menu” — Chuang Uart (2/14/96)
Notice: I will not spend too much time be updating the SLiRP portions of this reference. Real PPP accounts are so cheap even I decided to get one!
I have created this reference to help spare others from jumping through all the configuration hoops that I had to go through setting up first TIA and then SLiRP on my Netcom shell account. This information has been compiled from FAQs (see reference links), documentation, usenet posts, trial and error and from my experience as a systems engineer. All of the configuration examples are taken from my working files. Standard Disclaimer.Use at your own risk!

Trumpet Winsock 3.0C ($25)
Trumpet Winsock provides TCP/IP connectivity to the Internet primarily through a dial-up connection. TCP/IP is what makes the Internet go round. Besides SLiRP, you can use Trumpet Winsock for regular SLIP and PPP connections.
STEP 1: Get a UNIX ahell account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) where SLiRP/TIA is allowed (some ISP’s prohibit SLiRP/TIA usage).
You need to get a shell account which at Netcom will cost you $30 for setup and then $17.50 a month for unlimited access. Make sure you VERIFY your password with your salesperson, e.g. zpqj (zebra ping quarter jester).
STEP 2: Get a Slip-Emulator
