Draft Federal Law Plan to Block All Online Game
A new federal proposal has been presented and aims to reverse the decision to allow individual states to legalize online poker and gaming legislation, which the Justice Department passed in 2011.
The bill, which is being sponsored by congressman Jason Chaffetz representative from Utah, could be studied in parallel to the proposed anti-online gambling sponsored by senator Lindsey Graham representative of South Carolina. Congress will meet next week, and it looks like both bills will be introduced.
The bill from Chaffetz would restore the policy of all the games of online gambling was prohibited by the Decree Interstate Wire (Interstate Wire Act of 1961). The bill is very similar to Graham’s and is also supported by the goals of the coalition to stop online gambling that is funded by Sheldon Adelson, Executive Director of Las Vegas Sands.
However, the bill will face fierce opposition. The American Gaming Association, Poker Players Alliance and the Coalition for Consumer and Online Protection (C4COP, they are prepared to fight any attempt to ban online gambling. C4COP recently completed a media campaign over three weeks, which presented advertisements, high-profile news web sites urging people to support the movement to “stop the Congressional ban of online gaming.”
Microgaming introduces the reward system to Poker Network
Microgaming has just upgraded its poker network (MPN) with a new reward system called ‘Achievements.’
The new system will reward players for completing challenges within a game. It is a system similar to those already established in PartyPoker and Winamax. When players complete a challenge, they are awarded a medal that can be displayed on their table.
Some of the rewards are very simple, such as “Pimp My Client ” which requires the player to configure the MPN poker client to their own measure. However, others require a little more work, such as the ‘All Round’ achievement given to players who play all poker variants.
Network Games director at MPN, Lydia Melton, said, ” poker is not just about making money, it’s also about challenging yourself and your friends and having fun while you do it. Our new Achievements feature has to do with this aspect of poker.”
Christopher Hirst, the poker Director of Betsson Group, thinks that the new reward system will take the network to another level, ” making poker more fun and challenging in New and exciting ways is very important to us. We are very pleased that MPN shares the same objectives and think that Achievements will be a real key piece.”
