SCTV On YouTube

SCTV Season One

SCTV is one of my all time favorite sketch comedy shows.  It’s ratings suffered because of the late time slot they had in the early 1980’s, but the show, nonetheless, was nominated 15 times for an Emmy, which SCTV won twice for outstanding writing.  The humor was very creative, unpretentious, well written and didn’t suffer from the excessive double entendres of today’s comedy sketch shows.

Here are a few examples of some of my favorite sketches from YouTube: Dr Tongue’s 3D House of Stewardesses, Floyd the Barber with the Godfather, The Shmenges Polka Show,The Russians Take Over SCTV, Bob and Doug McKenzie – Mouse in the Bottle, Perry Como Commercial and Connie Franklin

Dead Can Dance On YouTube

Spleen And Ideal Album

When I first checked last year there weren’t many Dead Can Dance (DCD) videos available on YouTube, but that has changed big time.  One reason I always liked DCD was that their music was always more artistic and from the heart instead of just being commercial.  Because their music is so unique it never sounds dated.  Here are a few of my favorite songs by the group: Cantara, Rakim (lyrics) and The Carnival Is Over (lyrics). BTW, Lisa Gerrard sings in glossolalia (tongues) so don’t even try to make out what she’s singing.

Independent Lens Online Shorts Festival
These are great, and millions times better than than all that Super Bowl hype and commercials. In particular, I liked Someday Flowers Bloom, which  is a wonderful love story and La Fe’E Rouge about the second life of Barbie Dolls.
