A Short Trip To Yosemite And Sequoia National Parks

After watching Ken Burns National Park series, I decided on my vacation this year I would check out Sequoia and Yosemite National parks, which are here in California where I live.  I had been to Yosemite once before about seven years ago, but I wanted to go back to revisit and also explore some of the new areas of the park.  I had never been to Sequoia before.  For the trip, I got a new Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 12 megapixel camera so I could take a lot pictures. This is my photo diary.

I have broken up the diary in to two parts.

I also used Google's Picasa software to store and organize my images on the web.  Here are the Picasa albums:

Richard and the Young Lions - Open Up Your Door
A friend of mine Orlando Morales turned me on to some old Robin Seymour videos from the old Swingin' Time show from the Detroit area.  That's how I got the theme for this week - 1966 music that inspired countless garage bands across the nation.

"Margaret Brundage, born Margaret Hedda Johnson (December 9, 1900 – April 9, 1976) was an American illustrator and painter who is remembered chiefly for having illustrated the pulp magazine Weird Tales. Working in pastels on illustration board, she created most of the covers for Weird Tales between 1933 and 1938." Amazing stuff.

Amrita Shere-Gil was known as India's Frida Khalo and in her short life (she died when she was only 28.) created several masterpieces.  She was strongly influenced by the artwork of Paul Gauguin, and as you can see, she was also a very beautiful woman.  There are more images of her work at the Tate and National Gallery of Modern Arts, New Delhi.
