Chinese Troops Converge in Tibetan Areas

Bush cares more about attending the Chinese Olympics and making his big speech than he does about the safety and freedom of Tibetan people.   He doesn't care how many Chinese or Tibetans are murdered, tortured or abused.  He even had the China taken off the the list of top ten countries for violating human rights, and the State department knows there isn't a much of difference in repression between the Axis of Evil country North Korea and China. What a miserable scum bag and coward Bush really is.

McCain Would Be The 6th Civil War Veteran President

WASHINGTON (IWR Satire) - Historian Michael Beschloff on CSPAN today pointed out that if John McCain where to elected president, McCain would the 6th Civil War veteran to have achieved that milestone.   John McCain, who was born in 1836, was a self-appointed colonel in the Confederate army from 1862-1864.  The last civil war veteran president was William McKinley.

Poll: 71 Percent Think Iraq Spending Hurts Economy

This poll is a nice reality check to all the manure spewing out of Bush's and McCain's mouths on this 5 year anniversary of the Iraq war.

In the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll conducted last weekend, 71 percent said they think U.S. spending in Iraq is a reason for the nation's poor economy. Twenty-eight percent said they didn't think so.

The weekend poll, timed to coincide with the Iraq war's fifth anniversary, also showed little U.S. support for the conflict. Fewer than one in three respondents -- 32 percent -- said they support the war, while 66 percent said they oppose it.

Sixty-one percent of those polled said the next president should remove most U.S. troops from Iraq "within a few months of taking office."

Only 36 percent of those polled said the situation in Iraq was worth going to war over -- down from 68 percent in March 2003, when the war began.

The Street on Welfare

When liberals talk about universal health care conservatives freak, but when it comes to bailing out shady Wall Street investment bankers, socialism makes sense.

Never do I want to hear again from my conservative friends about how brilliant capitalists are, how much they deserve their seven-figure salaries and how government should keep its hands off the private economy.

Ravi Varma

Raja Ravi Varma [Bio 1848-1906] is consider one of the greatest painters in Indian's history.  I really like the way he portrays Indian women.  There was time when I used to think that all the women in India looked like Indira Gandhi!  ;-) There are more Varma images here and here

Here's what the Wikipedia said about Raja Ravi Varma.

His paintings are considered to be among the best examples of the fusion of Indian traditions with the techniques of European academic art.

Raja Ravi Varma is most remembered for his paintings of beautiful sari clad women, who were portrayed as very shapely and graceful. His exposure in the west came when he won the first prize in Vienna Art Exhibition in 1873.

The Phez Twins

WASHINGTON (IWR Satire) - The IWR Phezident Series will cover the progress of Phezident Bush as he tries to build a more positive image of his legacy as phezident.

For those of you unfamiliar with Mr. Bush's concept of the phezident, here's a little background information.

In January when Mr. Bush was informed by his advisors that the economy was headed into a certain recession, the president knew then and there if he didn't take corrective action quickly, he would certainly go down in history as the worst president ever.

So George decided to fast and meditate on a solution for his dilemma.  So for two whole days, he refrained from eating any Twinkies, jelly donuts or MoonPies.

Then the answer came in a hypoglycemic vision in which an organ grinder's monkey named Sid pointed to his tiny red hat and said: "The fez is the answer that you have been waiting for my son.  If you are remembered as the fezident, instead of the president, you can't go down in history as the worst president then can you?".

Of course, George being a bad speller that he is, spelled fez with a 'ph' instead of an 'f' and voila the phezident was born.

From that day forward, the Phezident decided that he, his family and staff would wear red fez hats for the duration of his phezidency in an attempt to obfuscate Mr. Bush's place in American history.

That is what the IWR Phezident Series will be all about.

Stay tuned.
