These are excellent paintings and videos of Bangkok's decadent nightlife.
The colors are sensational!

Ikiru on-line
Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece Ikiru (1952) is now available free to view
online.
Ikiru is
Kurosawa's version of
Leo
Tolstoy's
The Death of Ivan Ilyich. It is one of
Time
Magazine's All Time 100 movies, and is also one of my favorite movies
and directors. This film is from the golden age of Japanese cinema,
and you get an almost documentary view of post-war Japan in the early 50s.
If you can, get the Criterion
Criterion
Collection version and listen to the commentary to get details on
Kurosawa and Japan at that time.

GALLUP: 58% Want Pullout in Iraq Within 12 Months (BF)
"Almost 6 out of 10 Americans (58%) want troops to be withdrawn within 12
months and only 13% support sending more." According to Dick Cheney's
doublespeak, then, the majority of Americans are traitors!

Venus, But Not In Blue
Jeans
This is an IWR article on the "Venus Art" search I did on Google.
There are like hundreds, if not thousands, of Venus themed artworks that
have been created in the last 500 plus years.

Paul Delvaux
[Bio]
Belgian Paul Delvaux is my favorite surrealist painter. His dreamlike
paintings of his female subjects are quite natural and enchanting. I
wish I could have dreams like his artwork depicts. I found three
archives of his work from
Paintings Art In The Picture,
Anarkasis
and
IWeb.
My favorite for the moment is Femme Au Mirror.

Femme Au Mirror (1934)
The Great Sirens is from the Met's Timeline of Art History.

The Great Sirens (1947)
It's interesting how his backgrounds line up slightly off center to mitigate
the otherwise static settings.

The Wedding Dress (1941)

George Owen Wynne Apperley [Bio]
George Apperley was an English oil and watercolor artist who lived in
England, Spain and the Tangiers. I think his Art Deco oil painting
A Dancer of Ancient Egypt was his greatest work, but it would be too
small for this blog entry to really appreciate. Here are three
archives of his work from
his main page in the UK,
the Art Renewal Center and
Anarkasis.

Rosa de Granada (1917)
