Saito Kiyoshi

Saito Kiyoshi [Bio 1907-1997]
Saito Kiyoshi was part of the Sōsaku hanga woodblock print movement, which was an individual creative departure from the Shin hanga, which was heavily influenced by Ukiyo-e.  Kiyoshi originally was more famous outside of Japan than within, and he was one the first such artists to win international recognition in 1951.  His work, which reminds me a little of Picasso, is very well represented in this large digital collection of images (82) from the University of Michigan Museum of Art.
