Library Of Congress Photos On Flickr

Flickr: Photos from The Library of Congress
This is an amazing collection of photographs from the Library of Congress.  I was especially intrigued by the color photo collection from the 1930s and 1940s.  A lot of the images of  buildings from this era reminded me of Edward Hopper paintings, but the people in the photos are the most interesting subject matter of all.  BTW, I found this link via comment from The Sideshow. Here are my favorites from this fascinating collection:

Living Quarters And Juke Joint, Belle Grade, FL (1941)

Jack Whinery Family, Pie Town, NM (1940)

Jim Norris, Pie Town, NM (1940)

Negro Boy Near Cincinnati, OH (1942-43)

Girl with doll standing by fence (1941-42)

Mrs. Irma Lee McElroy, Corpus Christi, TX (1942)

M4 Tank Crew, Ft. Knox, KY (1942)

Japanese-American Internment Camp, Tule Lake Relocation Center, Newell, CA (1942-43)

Woman aircraft worker, Burbank, CA (1942)

Grand Grocery Store in Lincoln, NB (1942)
